This year the event will be run on the evening of 9th June, in the past two years MCC had entered 2 teams, one for the fast guys and one for vets. Last year there was a maximum of 3 teams per club, however the latest details from the organisers states: The Silverstone Committee are fine tuning the entry process, reviewing team numbers per club, checking on the budgets and hire costs for the Silverstone Circuit – details of entry fee per team, and the registration process will be shared shortly.
That doesnt mean that we wont get the option for 3 teams so lets plan for that if we can get the numbers.
In the past the people who have ridden in the previous year get an option to ride, but although a core number of riders have been able to make it, spaces have become available and taken by a first come first served basis.
As a starter I have looked at the interest on the FB group and hopefully we can develop it from there, it would be good to have some of the ladies ride the event and therefore the teams could be 1) Fast and furious 2) Vets, and 3) Mixed.
Fast people so far: L Gaskin, G Lake, J Orrock, S Eden, D Ellis
Vets so far: A Fretwell, P Tuckwood, P Collier, P Arnold, S Plester, J Fuller
Others up for taking part: S Long, C Wile, G Lee, A Maling (L), H Smith-Wesson (L), K Manners? P Freeman?
There will need to be a bit of shifting round to balance the teams as time goes on so please bear with it.
Now the really important bit: I will sort the vets team and happy to be the main point for MCC but we need an organiser for any further teams. The task is not too onerous and I will help them, in essence once the riders are established we need their basic details and get the cash off them, then a bit of organising on the night.
Its a great event and certainly worth giving it a go.
