I wasn't there, but I imagine it went something like this.............
Top of coppice was a lonely place this morning, not many turned up, but the prodigal son of the sea was out and was joined by the BMC (or should that be Canyon) Lee and Mick. What should be an easy start this time of year was obviously ruined because Kristian set off like he was trying to drop Mick before the Garden centre.
It was already through and off on the A614 and it didn't let up until the Bull Hill where they all had a little a cry about not having to wait for any one and got straight back on it until the fireworks really started at Halam, where Lee decided to see if his training could get that gap and hit a new max figure on his power meter. No one could make a move stick and so it was the cat and mouse shuffling for position on the down hill to the Southwell town sign, where Kristian held off a late Mick charge to take the honours and it was pats on the back all round for living up to the bandit name.
The cafe was quiet, but Cheryl put on a good spread for the three warriors of the road and it was almost like old times, but without Assos Man shouting 'let's be havin ya' there was no one to kick start the return leg, so it was a leisurely pace back up Oxton bank with only a flurry of an attack from Mick to take the sign post at the top.
Same again next week? Maybe with more people out? come on its only a bit of cold, wind and mud............... it's not all turbos, power meters and training plans................ it's old men, trying to be young men and getting your balls out on a work day
